Our Story
Previously NUS Indian Dance (Bollywood) and currently under NUS Indian Cultural Society (OSA), NUS Naach is a modern Indian dance group, rooted in Bollywood and fused with various other styles, that aims to tell stories through dance.
Naach's vision is to be the trendsetters in storytelling through dance as a pioneer group in Singapore.
Helmed under our Artistic Director & Resident Choreographer Mr. Akash Abhishek, Naach is formed with both established dancers and aspiring ones.

NUS Indian Cultural Society
NUS Indian Cultural Society (ICS) is the parent organization of NUS Naach. ICS aims to showcase what it means to be Indian through the various events held over the year such as Diwali Night, Holi and the Cultural Bazaar. Furthermore, ICS provides an excellent platform for students to connect with each other and the community, with outreach programmes such as Nurture Volunteering and Project Strive.
NUS Naach is proud to be a part of ICS to together achieve a greater awareness of Indian culture. Over the years, Naach has performed on numerous occasions at ICS events with Diwali Night being one of the most-awaited ones! What better way to demonstrate Indian culture than dance? Together, we will strive to serve the community in Singapore, showcasing what Indian Culture is all about.

Akash Abhishek
Artistic Director & Resident Choreographer
Akash Abhishek has been the primary driving force in creating the premier modern Indian dance group that Naach has become today. His choreography style is an eclectic combination of his jazz training, love for cinema and desire to tell human stories through movement.
Akash has experience in dance and choreography of over a decade. He started his formal dance training in 2004 with ACJC Modern Dance as their lead dancer and later joined NUS Dance Synergy in 2007, performing in various contemporary shows with them. There, he explored expressions and vocabulary of dance that were inherently different from the kind he had grown up with.

He was instrumental in creating a culture reliant on training, creativity and emotions for the dance group that represented NUS at Tarang, a inter-university dance competition. As their lead choreographer from 2008 to 2013, Akash brought out a variety of socio-political issues like women empowerment and youth issues to break the common perception of Indian dance as only “Bollywood” or “Colorful”.
In 2013, he joined NUS Indian Dance (Bollywood) under the NUS Center for Arts (CFA) as a choreographer, leading 100 different dancers in 8 massively successful productions - Ishq (2013), Junoon (2014), Shamiyana (2015), Zariya (2016), Alfaaz (2017), Dastak (2018), Raabta (2019) and Kiwaad (2021), and 3 incredible showcases - Genesis (2019), Genesis 2.0 (2020), Genesis 3.0 (2022) and Rhapsody (2020)
